The following week Sister Bennett invited all the sister missionaries over for a Sister's Gathering. We really felt the spirit of Christmas as we sat around and shared the Christmas traditions of our families. I felt so proud of these beautiful sisters who told of the selflessness of their family traditions where the spirit of Christ was the center of their celebrating, making sure others who were less fortunate did not go without, and the feeling of giving over the self-centeredness of receiving. The future of the Church is in good hands with the strenghth of the army of missionaries in the field. They will be a powerful force for good throughout their lives because of the teachings they have received in their homes, and as they exemplify those teachings wherever they are.
As we prepare for this Christmas, we want all to feel the true joy of the birth, life, and death of our Savior. We share our testimony with you that He came to this earth, as the Son of God, to show us the way back into the presence of our Father in Heaven. May we all put Christ at the center of our thoughts and gifts this season. Share your love and blessings with all around you and may these feelings last throughout the coming year. We love you all.

We have not found nativities either, only Santas and snowmen. Only 3% Christian here, so the lights and the commercial side all that is evident. The gospel is SO needed here/ Love to you both!
Thanks for sharing your mission with us through your blog. We love the pictures as well as the commentary. We remember 2 Thanksgivings in the mission and they were wonderful feasts. But every meal is a feast in Samoa. However, taro makes a poor substitute for yams. We couldn't find any nativities in Samoa either except for some that a woman from our ward made and sold special order. She was a palagi (white) woman from America. We miss this time of year in the mission field. It is truly special to be immersed in serving the Savior on His birthday. Merry Christmas to you as well.
We absolutely love this time of year. It makes us feel a little sad though, seeing all of our parents gone at the same time during this festive season. Still, we can't deny that we've been extremely blessed while you've been gone. Your Christmas tree is so cute! Fortunately my Mom was able to find a little tree in Spain, as well. All 4 of us wish you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a Happy and healthy NEW YEAR as well!! You are never far from our thoughts and prayers.
